Marcey E. Shapiro, MD

Functional Medicine

Services - What Dr. Shapiro Does

Dr. Shapiro offers consultations on the use of complementary and alternative medicine as part of an overall approach to health and wellness.  Each consultation is unique, since she approaches each patient as an individual seeking his or her own personal health transformation.  Dr. Shapiro addresses the whole person, body, mind and spirit, and strives to help her patients to manifest greater harmony and joy as well as physical health.

At this time, Dr. Shapiro is not affiliated with any hospital or insurance plan.   She is not a Medicare or Medi-Cal provider. Although she has completed training in Family Medicine, Dr. Shapiro works as an Integrative Medicine consulting physician, rather than as a primary care physician. This means, functionally, that she is not available for consultation on weekends and evenings and does not handle emergencies. Patients with emergencies will need to go to the emergency room at a local hospital or contact their primary care physician.

Dr. Shapiro finds an integrative approach helpful for addressing many acute and chronic health concerns.

“Always be kind to yourself.” I have written those words on patient instruction sheets for as long as I have had a medical practice. I have noticed that many people are distinctly unkind to themselves. They judge themselves harshly and even ridicule or belittle themselves when they do not live up to impossible standards. They are their own worst critics. If you will be your own greatest supporter, your health will flourish and your life will blossom.
